Film Title:  From the Mountain to the Sea

On the east coast of Bali, coral reefs are disappearing at an alarming rate, but a local diving centre refuses to let this happen. Instead, they’re bringing the very community that depends on these waters into the heart of the restoration effort.

From the Mountain to the Sea is a film born from a simple truth: ecosystem restoration doesn’t succeed in isolation. It thrives when local communities are empowered to lead it. At the heart of this story is Claudia Koch, founder of We Do Ocean, whose work reveals what true community-led restoration can look like. Through her sustainable diving centre, more than 275 square meters of coral reef have been revived, and new full-time restoration jobs have been created, many of them held by local women. The film follows the restoration process intimately, while also showing how travellers can contribute meaningfully to this fragile ecosystem.
