David is a dedicated nature filmmaker and producer, working full-time in the field since October 2019. His passion for wildlife storytelling began in 2014, and he has since honed his craft while pursuing his academic interests. He holds an MA in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics (2019) and a BA in Biology (2016), both from Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU Jena). David's films focus exclusively on wild animals, captured without the use of flash or visible artificial light, and emphasize transparency in filmmaking methods to ensure authenticity. His work aims to inspire awareness and enthusiasm for the natural world, reflecting his deep commitment to nature and species conservation. He is particularly interested in the plight of the European hamster, both in Germany and globally, as well as the European wildcat and methods for studying and protecting these fascinating creatures. His broader interests encompass wild mammals and innovative wildlife research techniques, along with steppe habitats.
Nature filmmaker David Cebulla wants to observe the world's last common hamsters before they might disappear forever. To this end, he sets out in six different countries in search of the endangered species.
