MARCO DOMINIK GRAF

Marco Dominik Graf was born an only child in Schaffhausen (Switzerland). He discovered his passion for filmmaking at an early age. Already an enthusiastic aquarist at the time, he began documenting the reproductive biology of his fish with his first camcorder.

After completing training as a butcher, he worked in his profession for several years. During this time, Graf made his official debut with his first feature-length film, Der Hochrhein, which successfully premiered in a small community cinema in 2018.

Following this, he founded the production company Graf Media Productions GmbH, which focuses on multimedia contract work as well as producing independent documentary films for cinema and television. Graf serves as the company’s managing director.

In addition, Graf completed acting training in Zurich and voice training at the Speech Academy Switzerland.

His most well-known work to date is the documentary film Feld, Acker, Wiese – Freiflächen der Nordschweiz, released in 2021. The film explores the interactions between humans, nature, and agriculture in northern Switzerland, highlighting the importance of open spaces for ecological balance and society.

Graf’s storytelling is documentary in style yet often philosophical, frequently addressing local themes while offering insights into nature and the ecology of the surrounding environment. His films aim to combine striking visual language with narrative depth, encouraging audiences to

Film Title:  RAINDROP - THE JOURNEY OF WATER

Hardly any element on our planet is more important than water. Wherever there is water, life thrives. Yet few people know about the remarkable creatures that navigate their daily existence in the water’s natural habitats. Far from our sight, true dramas and glories unfold every day—stories that almost no one ever witnesses. Stories full of adventure, tragedy, humor, and even love. For over four years, we have followed the rarest and most iconic creatures in the last remaining wild, untouched habitats, capturing breathtaking, spectacular images and documenting their most fascinating stories. Unlike other films, Raindrop does not focus on the geography of water but on its most extraordinary protagonists and their home—a habitat as it should be, yet one that is tragically disappearing.
